Datoon volcanic mountains are located in the northern part of Taipei, and belong to the 3rd to 4th era of the volcanic activities in this region. There are about 20 important volcanic mountains, including the Datoon, the seven star, and the bamboo mountains.

The height of the mountains in this region is around 800 to 1100 meters. The highest is that of the Sevenstar Mountain, which is 1120 meters, and most of them do not retain the original cone-shaped outlook when they were first formed due to time and weather effects.
