Geologists
suspect that there are two main phases to the eruption of
the Yangmingshan National Park:
First
phase, first age, took place around 2.8 million years ago,
near the region of Wonlee.
First
phase, second stage took place around 2.5 million years
ago, and was a relatively mild eruption, forming what is
now the Dahuang Mouth.
Phase
two begin a lot later, around 800,000 years ago, and this
time the eruptions were gigantic, which is responsible for
most of the volcanoes we see here today, including the Sevenstar
series. The
Datoon series are also formed in this phase, up until 200,000
years ago. But we still see some occasion glimpse of these
past historic happenings when we come visit the region.
