2,interviews w/ community residents

(1)

”@

analysis: Although residents do feel the pressure of higher living expenses and easy erosions, they still prefer to live here.
discoveries: Humans adapt quite easily. With a hotspring at home, few people can resist the temptation.

(2)

”@

analysis: Residents don't feel that their health will be affected by living here, in fact, they think it's even better for them.
discoveries: Thus far, we haven't been able to find any medical proof proving that they will be affected, either.

(3)

”@

analysis: Residents feel there are no affects on the plant life in the region.
discoveries: We believe there is, though. Otherwise, why do we only see a few kinds of plants in the hotspring regions of Yangmingshan? Thus we feel that the unique surroundings caused only plants such as Mon grass and Arrow Bamboo can survive in such a region.

3:interviews with ”]construction workers and hotspring businessmen”^

(1)

”@

analysis: Yangmingshan Park does not have clear regulations, thus almost anyone could simply apply for a license.
discoveries: This has caused the pipelines to be extremely messy and unorganized.

(2)

”@

analysis: hotspring businesses care much about the dipping manners of people.
discoveries: Businesses will sometimes fear to tell their customers their mistakes, which in turn lose a good educational opportunity for people to learn.

(3)

”@

analysis: hotspring businesses hope that the government could improve their traffic conditions.
discoveries: when there are problems to be solved, tourists still look to the government. However, recent news tells us that most of the government's efforts were directed toward promoting activities such as the Baytow hotspring festival, rather than solving urgent tourist issues.

conclusion and suggestion:
”@

”@dipping has become the trendy thing to do for most citizens of Taipei. And indeed, it is a wonderful way to bring the family together, and everyone can enjoy a comfortable and relaxing hotspring dip. In addition, elders use this opportunity to make new friends, and to healthily spend their retired days. We are extremely interested in the development of leisure and culture in our society, and thus here are our suggestions:

  1. Yangmingshan National Park Office should take matters seriously and treat the free public rooms as if they were businesses and not be indifferent to them just because they do not generate revenues.
  2. Citizens should unite and develop our own homes and to make what's good better, and what's bad good.
  3. ¹ļAs for the financial problems and situations that arise from development in these regions, the government should offer professional advise and help, lest the region become too messy and unorganized.
  4. hotspring are the treasures of the Shih Lin and Baytow community, and thus deserves the full attention of our government as well the caretaking of her residents. We should utilize her strengths and combine it with Yangmingshan National Park and transform it into world famous tour sites.
  5. Our people's dipping mannerisms must be taught and reinforced, lest we shame ourselves in front of international guests and our fellow countrymen.
  6. governments must help hotspring businesses to pay special attention to sanitation issues and then will they be able to attract tourists and customers, which will ultimately result in a good development of the particular area.

”@Shih Lin and Baytow region residents are so lucky to be blessed with this natural environment right next to our homes. Within 10 minutes of driving, we are able to dip our tired bodies into steamy hotspring and relax for the day, shouldn't we be thankful and do everything in our power to make the place better every day?
